President Tamiya personally introduced the Secretary to the engineering and mechanics behind the iconic Mini 4WD—a 1:32-scale battery-powered racing model that combines speed, precision, and technical customization. Competitors rely on creativity, mechanical skills, and strategic design to optimize their cars for high-speed track performance.
The visit underscored the Department of Tourism’s continued support for international events that attract foreign visitors while showcasing the country’s hospitality, culture, and world-class venues.
Celebrating Filipino Culture Through Tamiya
One of the highlights of the event was the presentation of a special commemorative gift from President Tamiya to Secretary Angara-Mathay—the “Dyipne” Mini 4WD model kit (No. 18717).
Inspired by the iconic Philippine jeepney, the collectible model features authentic route stickers, colorful decorations, passenger seating details, and design elements that celebrate Filipino identity.
Originally launched to commemorate the first Tamiya Asia Challenge hosted in the Philippines in 2019, the “Dyipne” has become a sought-after collector’s item among Mini 4WD enthusiasts worldwide.
Secretary Angara-Mathay welcomed the gesture and praised Tamiya for honoring Philippine culture through one of its globally recognized products.

Officials noted that many overseas participants extended their stay to discover the country’s rich culture, diverse cuisine, and renowned hospitality.

Filipino competitors also delivered strong performances throughout the tournament, earning multiple runner-up finishes across various race categories against some of Asia’s best Mini 4WD racers.
